The present paper is focused on the issue of Latent Inhibition (IL) effect in humans. Firstly we examine the most relevant traditional investigation, which have used different experimental paradigms of Classical Conditioning and Instrumental Conditioning to study the conditions that produce LI in humans, putting forward some of their conceptual and methodological problems. Secondly, we describe several alternative approaches that have emerged recently, which can solve many of the problems of traditional approaches.
